Despite lock-down and business disruption, the NDT recruitment market is active as ever. Recently, one of our candidates attended a video interview with a potential employer near Memphis, Tennessee, USA. We are also in final stages of providing a Commercial Director to our client in Norway and we are looking forward to the opening of air travel as one of our candidates needs to relocate from the Middle East to Italy to start a new job and new life with one of the leading Formula1 teams.

Engagement with fellow members

Since recently making fellow members aware of the large NDT recruitment market globally, I received many requests to set up video calls to learn more; from Spain, Norway, Australia, Thailand, Canada and the US. Not surprisingly, most had never heard of NDT, but were keen to get into this sector by contacting hirers in their region. In return, NDT Resources can provide candidates that have been assessed as being able to do the job. A marriage made in heaven: Local recruiter with expertise in national recruitment practice and us, with NDT methodology, certification, and industrial sector expertise. NDT hirers around the world can only benefit from this collaboration.

Our first collaboration

After introducing myself (and explaining what NDT is) during a video meeting with members who operate in the engineering sector around the world. I was swiftly approached by a recruiter in Arkansas, USA. He had been contacted by a client of his who is a Fortune 50 company that manufactures specialist tubing and piping. They wanted to hire a Responsible Level III. My new partner, as usual, didn't know what this beast was or even what NDT is. He thought it would be useful to partner up with someone who did. Within 4 days I had interviewed and subsequently proposed a highly qualified candidate from my database. Shortly followed by another candidate who sits on the board of ASNT, sourced externally. My partner's client was impressed and is still considering them. NDT Resources brought my partner credibility in this sector; so much so, that the same client has come back to ask for two Level IIs. My client (a Fortune 50 company) specialises in the manufacture of a complete range of seamless stainless steel pipes, nickle-based and alloy pipes, metallurgically bonded, seamless clad pipes - known as SX-Clad - and extruded shapes/profiles for aerospace applications. Other clients range from oil and gas companies, power and nuclear power plants, water treatment centres, chemical, and petrochemical companies. Primary responsibility is to perform ultrasonic inspections of pipe and clad pipe off the extrusion press.

Responsible NDT Level III (must be eligible to work in USA)
