My client is a leading manufacturer of precision cast nozzle guide vanes for gas turbine engines (jet engines), supplying manufacturers in the aerospace and industrial gas turbine sectors.

They have over 70 years of experience in the industry, enabling them to support their customer's requirements through all stages of component manufacture, from raw materials through to engine ready components.

If you don't hold aerospace certification, this is a great opportunity to enter this sector. Training will be provided (6-7 months) to gain EN4179 (aerospace) certification upon successful completion of examinations.

Purpose

To undertake fluorescent penetrant inspection, visual inspection, and dimensional inspection on aerospace and industrial components in line with strict procedures and specifications.

Shift patterns

37-hour contract. 3 shift pattern (morning, afternoon and night rotation; week about)

Morning shift: 0545 - 1345 Monday - Thursday; 05:45 - 10:45 Friday

Afternoon shift: 1345 - 2145 Monday - Thursday; 1045 - 1545 Friday

Night shift: 21:45 - 05:45 Monday - Thursday; 15:45 - 20:45 Friday

Whilst training for the role, hours of work will be 08:00 - 16:25 Monday - Thursday; 08:00 - 13:20 Friday.

Job requirements

  •    Experience working on a fluorescent penetrant line
  •    Hold a level 2 Penetrant Testing NDT certification (PCN, SNT-TC-1A, or EN4179)
  •    Experience ideally gained on aerospace products
  •    Understand engineering drawings for the purpose of inspection
  •    Desirable: Ability to use precision measuring inspection equipment (vernier calipers, micrometers, etc)
  •    Desirable: Ability to use CMM machines
  •    Desirable: Experience of inspecting to tight tolerances in a precision engineering environment
  •    Excellent attention to detail
  •    Ability to produce quality work whilst working under pressure
  •    Able to work with little or no supervision
  •    Good communication skills, and the ability to contribute in a team environment
  •    Willing to learn and take on board new skills
  •    Has a structured, methodical approach to all work tasks
  •    A reasonable degree of computer literacy, with basic excel experience
  •    An understanding or ability to use SAP would advantageous

Job responsibilities

  •    Inspect work, ensuring that conformance is strictly met
  •    Sign off batch cards detailing components meet specification and customer requirements
  •    Raise any conformance issues and any relevant paperwork in line with Company procedure
  •    First off inspections
  •    Receipt inspection (validation of parts returning from subcontract locations)
  •    Complete conventional and CMM inspection work as an independent over check for parts
  •    Complete visual inspection of parts during the inspection process
  •    Undertake airflow inspection tasks as required
  •    Consistently achieving all area targets as determined by the Cell Manager
  •    Adherence to all company policies and procedures, including SOX, Code of Conduct and Health and Safety
